National Distance Running Hall of Fame Half Marathon & 5K
    Distance: Half Marathon

    Time: 8:00 AM
    Utica, NY

Race Notes: Featuring a picturesque course that takes runners alongside the waters of Utica's Canal Trail, the National Distance Running Hall of Fame Half Marathon and 5K offers a race that fits the organization it benefits -- a race with several challenging stretches, but also one that welcomes runners of all abilities. The race, organized by the Utica Road Runners club, benefits the National Distance Running Hall of Fame, which was established in Utica in 1998 to honor the athletes who have brought fame and recognition to the sport.

The race -- which also includes a 5K and a half-marathon relay -- is a hilly one, ranging in elevation from about 390 feet to 440 feet above sea level at its highest points. The most significant hills, most of which unfold along the Canal Trail, occur between miles 2 and 3 and miles 10 and 11. The half-marathon follows an out-and-back course that begins near downtown Utica on Whitesboro Street, and then turns eastward onto North Genessee Street and northward onto the Canal Trail, the portion of the course on which most of the race is run.
